Health Plans for Individuals Under Age 65

Choosing the right health plan to suit your health and financial situation is important. If you are not eligible for health coverage through an employer group plan, you can enroll yourself or your family in one of our individual plans.

We offer individuals a wide variety of health plans, so you're sure to find one that meets your family's needs, all backed by the security and protection of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska health care coverage. As an added convenience, monthly premiums can be automatically withdrawn from your checking or savings account.

SAVE MONEY! A reduced premium rate is available (excluding TempCare) if you do not currently use tobacco products and have not used tobacco products for a minimum of 12 months.

BluePreferred and ValuePlan HSA-Eligible Plans

BluePreferred and ValuePlan high deductible health plans, when used with a health savings account (HSA), will provide you with key coverage in exchange for a lower monthly premium. Choose from three BluePreferred and six ValuePlan HSA-eligible options.

BluePreferred ValuePlan

You need health care coverage, but you’re concerned that you won’t be able to afford it. You want protection against hospital and doctor expenses, but don’t need coverage for certain types of medical care. BluePreferred ValuePlan premiums are lower than our traditional BluePreferred PPO plan because ValuePlan coverage does not include benefits for pregnancy and maternity services or inpatient treatment for mental illness or substance abuse.

BluePreferred Basics

Now, you can get quality health insurance at a price you can afford. With BluePreferred Basics you’re covered for basic health care services and you enjoy low monthly premium payments. BluePreferred Basics offers affordable plan options that give you low monthly premiums, a range of deductibles to suit your needs, a $1 million contract benefit maximum and much more! There are four BluePreferred Basics options to choose from.

TempCare

Are you between jobs and find yourself temporarily needing health care coverage? If so, our TempCare coverage can bridge the gap – whether it lasts a month, six months or one year.

CHIP

If you have had trouble getting health insurance because of a medical condition, CHIP could help. CHIP was created by the Nebraska legislature to provide health care coverage to Nebraskans who may be having difficulty purchasing a policy at an affordable price or without restrictions because of a medical condition. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is proud to administer the Nebraska Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool on behalf of the State of Nebraska.
