Your Blue Cross and Blue Shield Coverage Travels with You
The BlueCard Program processes health care claims you and your family members
incur while living or traveling outside Nebraska. It comes in especially handy
if you have PPO coverage because it means you can receive in-network benefits
even while you’re out of town. All you have to do is use the local Blue
Cross and Blue Shield Plan’s BlueCard PPO network hospitals, doctors and
other health care providers. They’ll file your claims for you!
Once the provider files the claims, the local Plan will contact us to verify coverage.
We will process the claim and notify the local Plan to issue benefit payment to
the provider. You will receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from us, which
shows how we processed your claim.
You can also take advantage of the discount and claim filing agreements other
Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans have negotiated with the contracting providers
in their area.

outpatient, and professional health care providers around the world when you're
traveling or living outside of the United States.
